About this product

Product Information

Ray Barrett stars as Harry Spalding, a man haunted by the mysterious death of his brother, in this Hammer Studios horror picture. Determined to investigate the circumstances behind his brother's death, Harry and his wife Valerie pick up and move into his late brother's house in Cornwall. There, Harry learns about the reclusive Dr. Franklyn, a former theology professor who specialized in studying arcane religions, and his daughter Anna. After some more prying into the life of Dr, Franklyn, Harry is attacked by a strange reptilian creature who miraculously leaves him alive and convinced that he has found his brother's killer. One of Hammer's best movies, THE REPTILE is by turns atmospheric and gruesome, and is a thoroughly creepy and entertaining film.

This is truly one of the best Hammer films of all. For those of you who love classic horror movies, the moody gothic sets, bad weather & eerie orchestra music with a cool bug-eyed monster-then this is for you. What truly strikes us is the dialogue & talented actors who obviously put their hearts & souls into what would otherwise only be another monster flick. Another nice treat is it's even in color! Our only beef was the origin of the creature was a little murkily explained & complicated, but otherwise this flick is razor-sharp with no drag! The creature is one of the best also, but gets too little screentime. We found it more entertaining than many modern day pics in recent memory. When acting & dialogue are this good-you don't need a lot of fluff. Best, N.
