About this product

Product Information

Morrowind continues Bethesda's award-winning Elder Scrolls role-playing series that began in 1994. The first two games built a following by offering players the freedom to do whatever they wanted to instead of venturing down a specific path. Released six years after the second chapter in the series, Morrowind serves as a gateway to an epic fantasy world featuring distinct races, political factions, monsters, and a diverse geography with variable weather. <br><br>Played primarily from a first-person perspective, the game begins on a ship sailing toward the mysterious island of Vvardenfell. The Emperor has, for reasons unknown, decided to free the lead character from imprisonment. With nothing but a man's name and a location to guide them, players are free to explore their surroundings, earn some money to purchase equipment, or converse with townsfolk, asking for advice or the latest rumor. The player's race, reputation, personality, and affiliation with various factions will determine how others respond.<br><br>Ten races are available for new characters, from the cat-like Kahjit and reptilian Argonians to more "traditional" orcs and elves. Each race offers distinct skill bonuses and special abilities. Nords are immune to frost, for example, while fleet-footed Redguards are resistant to poison and disease. Skills are broken down into three arts: combat, magic, and stealth, with certain classes gravitating toward a specific area. Developing these skills through combat, spell casting, or lock picking, to name but a few, will help increase the character's proficiency and overall experience.<br><br>As in previous games in the series, combat is handled in real time. One's skills in specific weapon types as well as fatigue rating and luck will influence whether the weapon hits the desired target. Adventurers will also be able to carry numerous foodstuffs, potions, scrolls, and items to sell or to use in combat. While there is a main storyline to the game, players can join up with multiple guilds and rise through the ranks by doing various tasks. Realize that certain actions may result in fines or imprisonment, and noted thieves or murderers may carry a bounty on their heads from town to town.<br><br>Also included as a PC exclusive is The Elder Scrolls Construction Set, a flexible design tool used by players to modify and add to the existing world in a number of ways. Players can alter character and monster attributes or skills, create new dungeons or islands, design new weapon types, and more. Each file created by the Construction Set can be added or deleted from the game without disrupting the existing universe. Players can also download or swap files with each other to experience new adventures on continuous basis.

Flexible seller negotiable on price saving $5 vs new. VG condition as described/shown. Wrapped in brown paper and shipped in film bag so packaging could have been a bit better to protect the book, but luckily it arrived safely.

The Elder Scrolls started with Morrowind

It's the first game in the Elder Scrolls series that got it right. Tod & company really got the feel for their world right in this game that would echo across their later games. A must have for any Elder Scrolls fan. While later games like Oblivion & Skyrim saw more streamlined gameplay & better graphics, did not have the immersion that was set in Morrowind.

    It won't play

It won't play.. I tried EVERYTHING... Except installing Windows XP, or Windows VISTA on my laptop... I can't play the game.. I emailed Bethesda many times.. The last solution they proposed was extreme... I'm not a computer programmer analyst

  • a classic!

The graphics are absolutely awe-inspiringly gorgeous. I have not seen this realism in a video game since... ever. The only problem is that the graphics require a near-supercomputer. Mine is kind of super, and the graphics look fine. As close to perfection as I have ever seen. Swords cling and clash. Magic blasts roar with power. Daggers swiftly slice through the air. Water sounds like water. Perfection. Absolute realistic perfection. The voice acting in this game is excellent. Sadly, the voice acting is limited to two sets per species: a male set and a female set. You hear everything, from the male Wood Elves speaking of your freeness when you prance around in your underwear to High Elves speaking of teleportation. The music is great. From the first time you boot up the game and hear ...

  • Morrowind: Not the Least of the Elder Scrolls

This game is simply amazing. My computer is not the latest model, and is not up to running Oblivion, the next game in the series, so I decided to try Morrowind. I was not disappointed. EVERYTHING is interactive, there are nearly unlimited things to do, kill, steal, cast, etc. Build your character, train in whatever areas you wish to specialize in, and save the world from the evil Dagoth Ur. I've had the game for over two months now, and am STILL finding more things to do on it. Not satisfied with saving the world, I had to become Master of the Fighters' Guild, Archmage of the Mages' guild, and am working my way through the missions of the sneaky Thieves' Guild. However, the game is not perfect. It can be a bit glitchy at times. The water animation, for example, is notably off. Sometimes it ...

  • Game is good, this product isn't.

The box was crushed, but that could be because of the post office. However the game disc did not work properly. It kept crashing. I had a disc before and it played perfectly on this computer (I subsequently lost that disc). I had to go onto Steam and buy the game.
