About this product

Product Information

Mean-streaked tacticians are called upon to fling minions and raise hell in Overlord: Dark Legend, a motion-controlled action-strategy game based on Triumph Studio's dark-humored Overlord. Retaining the play style of its predecessor, Dark Legend combines the third-person squad management of the GameCube's Pikmin with the good-to-be evil sensibilities of the computer classic, Dungeon Keeper. Although released alongside the direct sequel on home computers and high-def consoles, the Wii's Dark Legend follows an exclusive, original storyline. Players take the starring role of a forgotten, youngest child, whose siblings plot to take over the kingdom. The hero will not remain forgotten long, as he takes up the armor of the Overlord and takes command of the powers of destruction,

Of course, it's actually the Overlord's minions that do all the dirty work. Minions are distinguished by their color, and four main types are available in Overlord: Dark Legend. Brown minions take the part of the belligerent infantry; boots on the ground to cause chaos by hand. Reds can set their surroundings aflame in no time. Green minions specialize in stealth, serving as excellent assassins, and otherworldly Blues use magic to heal others and avoid harm. In the Wii's edition of Overlord, motion controls are used to pick minions up and fling them into battle or toward a task. Players can also use the Wii Remote to grab and shake a minion violently, causing it to become charged up and ready to explode -- a walking time bomb at the player's command.

  • You have being warned don't read this:)

I bought this product thinking I would be immersed in a certain world, I never founf that world. Overlord has a great concept, that is taking little minions and commanding them to act out on the enemy. This could be used in other games in other ways. There was a game called Endless Ocean for the Wii, I thought that was the coolest idead, sort of like how I felt about the minions, you could make a game called endless jungle where you fight and survive your way through the amazon and Maya ruins adding a dog by your side. Anyways this game is really easy and creative. The graphics are impressive and I wish the Wii and game developers would use some of the ideas late at night. Overlord 3/5

  • Overlord: Dark Legend (Wii, 2009)

As a Nintendo fan I've always had this sort of love/hate relationship with Overlord. Part of me – the lighting things on fire, beating up sheep, devilishly evil, amazingly well-dressed side – loves the game to death, while the other side of me – the Nintendo-playing, Pikmin-loving, Mushroom Kingdom-dwelling part – keeps going back to the idea that the game is fun, but that it's also basically an evil version of Pikmin. Once the sequel was announced across all platforms though it was obvious that Overlord – the previously HD-only affair – was going to have a serious chance at being something special on Nintendo's console. Yeah, the series takes inspiration from things like Fable or other fantasy action/RPG games, but I kept going back to that Pikmin-inspired feel, and looking at New Play ...

  • not a lot of play, but fun game

I bought this game for my husband, both he and I enjoyed the last overlord game ALOT. This one had alot of funny things in it like the minions dressing up to 'fool' other characters in the game. We enjoyed this game and were disapointed when the end came, because the total game play was just over 5 hours. and i dont know about any of you, but my husband can do that in one night :) Overall all this was a fun game, we just wish it was longer game play.

  • Good but short

This game made me get an Xbox 360 because I wanted to play the first Overlord. Obviously, I played them out of order. I loved this game, but it was too short. I wish they would've made it longer. My brother told me Overlord was, so I got an Xbox 360 and I'm playing Overlord (among a few other games) currently.

  • Great Game!

I bought this for my son for his birthday and as soon as he turned it on, he loved it. It has monsters and mayhem, two of his favorite things. I played it as well and I'm not much for playing video games, but I love this game too. Graphics are good and its a must have for any kid.
