The Yamaha Digital Sound Field Processing System DSP-A1000 amplifier has a Dolby Pro Logic surround decoder that creates cinema sound. Filling the room with audio, it makes movies feel real and enhances the details of your music. Connect all of your home theater devices to this multi-channel amp to enjoy sound that is resonant, rich, natural, and saturated. Switch its settings to create the dimensions you desire. The oversized LCD keypad makes controlling the amplifier easy.Like a receiver, this integrated amplifier can be connected to various accessories. The setup can include a stereo, DVD player, MP3 player, compact disc player, and two tape decks. The amp also provides an input for two videocassette recorders, a videodisc player, turntable, tuner, and television. It can be attached to several speakers and has a jack for headphones.This amp features 12 digital sound-field processing programs. Eight of them are based on real-world venues. The programs include Rock Concert, Church, Jazz Club, Disco, and Stadium as well as Concert Halls 1, 2, and 3. The other four DSP programs are designed for audio/video materials. Those programs are Concert Video, TV Theater, Movie Theater, and Dolby Pro Logic Surround. The Church program is the only one of the 12 that does not include two subprograms. Concert Hall 1's subprograms are Hall A and Hall B. Rock Concert's subprograms are The Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles and an arena. The Dolby program option is designed for use with materials that have the related Dolby logo. Many movie videotapes and DVDs carry the logo. Simply push a button to choose the DSP program or subprogram for the type of location you wish.Its five-band graphic equalizer allows you to change the overall frequency response of the center channel. The bands encompass the entire spectrum that humans can hear. You can easily change any of the various parameters to alter what you hear from this amp. The parameters include room size, initial delay, liveness, low pass filter, reverberation time, and directional enhancement. Pressing the DSP unit's Effect switch mutes the processed effect, allowing you to listen to audio in normal stereo. Pressing the switch again brings back the processed effect. You also can revise volume, treble, and bass levels. You can even change the volume of a subwoofer speaker that you add to increase the bass.Yamaha produced different versions of DSP-A1000 amplifiers for different countries; specifications vary among the amps. The U.S. model consumes 400 watts of electric power when in operation. Its minimum RMS output power at 8 ohms is 80 watts for the main and center channels. The output is 25 watts for the front and rear effects. Its headphone jack output level is 0.25 volts with an impedance of 100 ohms. The frequency response is 20 hertz to 20 kilohertz. The device's total harmonic distortion level is 0.005%. Its signal-to-noise ratio is more than 86 decibels for phono MM. It's more than 96 decibels for A/V accessories such as a CD players and VCR devices. The unit is compatible with the NTSC videotape signal.The Yamaha DSP-A1000 amplifier weighs 44 pounds.
