    Tablo

    If you are "cutting the chord" this is the product that will help you do it. The IOS interface on the ipad is great but what really sold me was the Tablo app on Roku. I use the product everyday and have had no problems except for some installation issues which I got help with over the phone-It does help if you're computer savvy. The Tablo site is a great place to learn about the product before you buy it. You will learn about all the pros/cons on the blog. After I researched the competition, I choose Tablo and I'm happy I did. The company is very responsive to their customer base and is working on improvements suggested by customer surveys You do need to get use to the lag time required to buffer the TV programs. If you are an instant gratification type guy this could be a major drawback.I ...

    Give it a few more years

    The idea behind the Tablo is great. The application, however needs work. It's easy to use once it's setup. The setup is a bit of a pain. The updating of the guide can take hours. Changing the channel takes way too long and you need a screaming device like Roku to make it work even on a smart TV. Plus, it's the hottest piece of plastic equipment I've ever felt, I'm surprised it didn't melt. And for some reason it would constantly access my HDD even when it wasn't being used.

    Tablo - works well, but

    This unit is doing everything I want for our network, but it works a lot better paired with a device like a Roku 3. The tablo app itself is a bit clunky and initial setup can be confusing. Once you get it set up you are good to go. I didn't plan on using an external hard drive because DVR use wasn't needed for my application, however it started to have troubles pulling up some channels and I got a "no hard drive detected". I just hooked up a USB small external drive and the message went away.

    Its OKay

    Still trying to figure out how to use this thing. Needs to have a product book to show you how to use it to its fullest abilities. Instead, you download an app on your smartphone which doesn't really tell you how to use it. On the plus side of things though, the recordings are very clear and far superior to vhs tapes. But it still depends on the source quality being broadcasted. Maybe in time I'll get better using it and will be really happy with this purchase but till then its just okay.

    overall good value however chromecast does not work with apple products and android tablets don't work with apple tv so need to commit one or the other. Playback could use more features ie. adjusting skip period and playback speed. The recording guide also is buggy sometimes failing to record programs and not letting you decide which channel you prefer if you are in an area that can receive the same channel from different broadcasters,
