      Works fine, but be aware of the limitations

      This works as advertised. Be aware that newer operating systems may not be compatible. MacOS10.11 El Capitan is the last Mac that will send faxes. My new computer won't run 10.11. So I had to dig out my old Mac and downgrade the OS from 10.14 to 10.11. Downgrading is not hard but it means erasing the hard drive and performing a factory reset. Then download the modem drivers from US Robotics and follow the instructions. A little time consuming to get it all running, but it works.

      Good Replacement

      I bought this to replace a no-name board that began misbehaving after a windows 10 update. I figured that a USB device would be more "future proof." These days it is only used for the occasional FAX. As long as there are doctors, pharmacies and lawyers, FAX will live on. CH

      Plug and play with Raspberry Pi OS.

      Using this with Call Attendant on a RPi 3B+ to block robo , spam, telemarketer calls on a landline. Works perfectly, with voicemail, outgoing messages playing the, "This number is no longer in service" message and SIT tone, caller ID, and call logging. Highly recommend if you still have a landline.

      Pros: Finding the right system device driver file from US Robotic's support and saving it onto a thumb drive was easier than I thought it would be. There weren't endless lists of driver files to rake through. One click to download. One click to install. One click to connect. Cons: I hadn't shopped for dial-up modems in forever but needed to upgrade a modem for upgraded software. I thought maybe they were dirt cheap by now. This wasn't the dirt cheap I was looking for, but for a little extra I did wind up with space saving reliability. No bells and whistles. Just good working connections.

      Good value

      Needed two of these for computer rebuilds since I have no available PCI slots. At nearly $60 a clip new, I found these very good condition used ones for less than half that. So I got two for the price of one. They look rarely used, clean, and as the listing said ugly box. But I'm not keeping the boxes anyway. All the accessories were included, including the drivers and cable. Can't say I'm disappointed. A good alternative to a nearly $60 new one.
