Synopsis
A seductive and intriguing journey from the humble Persian Jewish quarter to the fascinating world of shahs, soothsayers, eunuchs, and sultanas, Harem follows three generations of strong-willed and cunning women: Rebekah -- a poor girl married to the abusive blacksmith, Jacob the fatherless -- who emerges from her disastrous match with a mysterious brand between her breasts; Gold Dust, Rebekah's treasured daughter, who enters the opulent and perilous world of the harem and captivates the shah with her singing bones; and Gold Dust's daughter, the revered and feared albino princess Raven, who will one day rule the empire. Rich in visual imagery, Harem vividly depicts the exotic bazaars and dangerous alleys of the city and palace chambers brimming with conspiracy and betrayal -- as well as love and redemption. A skillfully crafted, intricately textured novel, Harem represents the beginning of a remarkable literary career., A seductive and intriguing journey from the humble Persian Jewish quarter to the fascinating world of shahs, soothsayers, eunuchs, and sultanas,Haremfollows three generations of strong-willed and cunning women: Rebekah -- a poor girl married to the abusive blacksmith, Jacob the fatherless -- who emerges from her disastrous match with a mysterious brand between her breasts; Gold Dust, Rebekah's treasured daughter, who enters the opulent and perilous world of the harem and captivates the shah with her singing bones; and Gold Dust's daughter, the revered and feared albino princess Raven, who will one day rule the empire.Rich in visual imagery,Haremvividly depicts the exotic bazaars and dangerous alleys of the city and palace chambers brimming with conspiracy and betrayal -- as well as love and redemption. Item description from the seller
Seller feedback (10,621)
- r***c (1650)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseUnfortunately for both of us the item was lost in transit. But seller provided excellent service and was very responsive. Issued a full refund right away when I brought the issue to his attention. The USPS is at fault here as they failed to track the item once in their possession. NOT THE SELLER'S FAULT. Seller was A+ throughout the transaction and had great prices. I highly recommend. The Dahlgren Affair: Terror and Conspiracy in the Civil War (#326483517868)
- a***1 (906)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseFast shipping, item as described, however the packaging was not suitable for mailing a CD. It was luck that the CD was not damaged in transit. There was nothing to protect the CD from being crushed or bent in the mail, all it had was a thin plastic bag. I was considering giving the seller a neutral rating for the way he packed the item, but decided not to, because I didn't wanted to lower the seller's rating , and other than the packaging I have no other complaints with this order.Maria Tanase Greatest Hits (#326483481439)
- n***e (1524)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseSeller shipped, but USPS didn't scan item on pickup, so we never received the item, but the seller immediately issued a full refund and apologized for something out of their control. Would buy again due to prompt communication and honesty. Obviously we didn't rate the item.
