I was so surprised, that I had a physical reaction, in
Someone said these are "Over the ear"; they are not - they'really "on ear". They look like kids cans. I was watching tv with these on, and I heard nothing of the tv. I quickly turned up the NAD T 758 - for the tv. I was listening to Kansas on my phone. The cans were not up that loud. The TV was listening temp; and I turned it up. I could not here one bit of the tv. Then, I plug in my Sennheiser HD 598, high end cans. I could hear the tv, at about the same volume as these Nakamichis. I turned them up, and up. LOL They are open back phones, so no srprise there - and no noise cancelation. They do have Sennheiser's innovative "'Eargonomic Acoustic Refinement' (E.A.R.) design channels audio signals directly into your ears" (sennheiser), and other sound refinement technologies in use, which ... I guess, ANC is not necesary then? Both canceled out the TV though. I was so surprised, that I had a physical reaction, in the process. The sound of the 598s is superior. I use the Nakamichis while running around, so the distractions keep me from focusing on what little is missing, on the soundstage - if anything. Regardlesss, these are amazing cans. Most of the bumps and hiccups are from the track, or phone. The same parts of the same songs drop consistently - that''s the track needing to be rerecorded, or the phone losing it. These are also almost as good as the Klipsch Image One II cans - wired. Wired is better anyway, but not for long. These Nakamichis are also much less comfortable than both the Klipsch, and the Sennheisers. In fact, the make great deal of noise, if I move around much, moving my jaw, or head. They creak, way too much! That''s why the better pairs are made with more rubbery flexible matterial, and have better hinged movement, to limit the creaking and banging of the cans. For the price - $16? ...4 to 5 stars!
