Collective Bluegrass at its best!
If you have no experience of Bluegrass Music or just think of Bill Monroe or Ralph Stanley when you hear "Bluegrass" is mentioned, do your self a favor and spend a few bucks for this item. You will hear the 'Old, High, Lonesome sound of Traditional Bluegrass, then get the shock of your life when you hear some of your favorite Country Stars, who got their start with Bluegrass, turning back to their roots and making this a very Collectible Purchase. This was a 2002 Fund Raiser put on by Ricky Skaggs and I wish his old friend Keith Whitley was alive to join in. I don't think the whole show is one this one, because I have a fair memory for my age, and it seams like it was 4-one hour shows. Perhaps without the commercials, they was able to condense this to the one 90 minute DVD! I can promise ... My favorite Bluegrass DVD!
Well folks, if you like any portion of Bluegrass, or acoustic music, or even the players - Patty Loveless, Ricky Skaggs, Vince Gill, Del McCoury, Raplh Stanley, Travis Tritt, Earl Scruggs, or Alison Krauss, you cetainly need to buy this DVD! Vince Gill demonstrates the tradition in which his musical talent is based, by playing guitar, bass, mandolin, and banjo all in backup and lead roles, as well as singing with the Del McCoury Band. Patty Loveless showcases her wonderful voice with Ricky and Raplh Stanley with range and tonal qualities that will blow you away! I have dozens of cd's and dvd's all of Bluegrass masters, but this has become my choice for playing along on the Martin. This is a must have for anyone who loves bluegrass!!!!!
I love the line up on this DVD, absolute legends and the performances gave me goosebumps, I originally saw this on PBS but could not afford the 75$ donation fee to buy it so when I saw it on e-bay for 17$ I had to have it
