Additional Information
In this classic crime film, small-time crook Charlie Croker (Michael Caine) organizes a motley group of thieves to steal four million worth of gold bullion from an armoured car in Turin, Italy. The mastermind of the heist is Mr. Bridger (Noel Coward), an experienced convict who has come up with the idea, but can't take part in its execution because he's in jail. To pull off the plan, the gang must tie up traffic in the center of the city to divert attention from the robbery, and ultimately make off with their booty undetected. The caper leads to one of the most exciting automobile chases ever filmed.

  • Your Only Supposed To Blow The Bloody Doors Off

The Italian Job is a product of its time and, moreover, of its place. It transfers the light-hearted spirit of an era directly onto the screen, revelling in the vibrancy of early sixties culture, never failing to flash the right card in order to cash in on the mood of the era. It is rooted in an idiosyncratic (and somewhat anachronistic) depiction of the British Nation, which encompasses everything from slapstick carry-on style humour to the class struggle!!! For every scene that is timelessly cool (most of the scenes featuring Caine) there is a counterpart that is ludicrously parochial (all of the scenes featuring Benny Hill!) but so endearing.

  • A Great Film

This film is an absolute classic. A very tongue in cheek take on Britain and it's view on the Italians. Michael Caine is at his best in what is basically a comedy caper as he and his "team" try to steal gold from the Italian FIAT factory in Turin during an international football match. Great moments from the start, great comedy, great cars (minis of course) and great characters.

  • Good entertainment

"You're only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!" What a classic line. Surpassed by the chase scene which was sheer magic - you could never do something like that these days. And then the ending..........
