great knife
Got the cara cara 2 for a beater knife and it works great. I don't mind jamming it in the dirt to cut a root or doing other rough work with it. Just rinse it off at the end of the day and give it a drop of oil. I normally like liner-lock better because it's easier to use one handed, but found the lockback design is easier to use with work gloves on. Blade is sharp out of the box. Opening and locking is smooth and solid. Byrds eye opening hole is a little sharp but not overly so. FRN scales just feel like cheap plastic to me. G10 feels a lot better in my hand but adds more to the weight and the price. This is a great work knife. Best bang for the buck
I've had this knife for over 2 years and LOVE it! It is a very solid and very sharp knife made of a good steel that holds it's edge. You will own a top notch blade that will not break the bank. If you want a knife with the quality of a Spyderco but can't (or don't want) to pay a $100 then pick up one of these. You will love this knife and (to me) the best part is if you lose it you can turn around and get another with out that sick to your stomach feeling that you lost all that money you could have lost if you did by a Spyderco or some other high end blade. This is a LARGE but light and very sharp knife that will last you and serve you for YEARS to come. Decent knife for the money.
I carry a knife everyday and use it hard. This knife holds up just fine. If I break it or lose it I'm not crying a river. I've bought several. If used hard it will need to be sharpened frequently.
