    Peter Jackson's vision goes beyond expectations.

    One of the advantages of being older is having context in being able to appreciate the advances of technology. I grew up in the Bay Area in the 60's and 70's wherein there was a huge following for The Lord of the Rings book trilogy. There were Frodo Lives buttons and the largest poster I ever had was a mural that combined the different covers to the paperbacks. I remember attending the Raplh Bakshi animated film and being so disappointed that I was convinced that no film could compare to what the mind could visualize while reading the novels. (Ironically, Peter Jackson was inspired by this very same film). I thought the closest would be an animated film that would cost so much no one would attempt such a project.
