Nice product. Used on a XR100R shock with 10mm coil diameter. Wouldn't recommend using these on a spring much larger. Grease the threads and bolt head washer!

    Tusk Spring Compressor

Tool worked as expected albeit a little light for the job. Had a hard time getting the factory spring off because of the amount of preload on the spring. Worked fine on the aftermarket spring that didn't need so much compressing. Make sure you grease, not oil, the threads on the screw when using the tool. Tusk spring compressor is small and comes in it's own box so it will stay clean in the tool box. I don't think it would work on automotive coilovers but did the job on my motorcycle. I'd recommend it for changing Kawasaki KLR 650 springs.

  • Top critical review

    Buyer beware.

I wouldn’t recommend this product to anyone that values the finish of their shock’s strut body. The rubber covers supplied DO protect the finish of the spring’s paint. However the product fails miserably at leaving the body of the shock unscathed. No matter how careful one is, or how much time they take to use these with care... Aslo, it is my opinion that these are somewhat unsafe. I found that no matter careful I was, and doing small equal turns alternating each side, that the compressors move. Dangerously. And when one attempts to loosen them, and back off the pressure, the small amount of torque required to do so, almost pries the compressor off from the spring. And that is a recipe for an accident waiting to happen. Don’t buy these for a one-time DIY project, as I attempted to do. ...

  • Light duty spring compressor

A nice package, good looking product. Works well for light duty. I’d recommend heavily greasing before each use. I started with a 3/8 ratchet which worked well just took a lot of time and energy. I readjusted the compressors d used my 1/4” impact. Worked very well for that. Remember to rotate side to side in increments. Slick and easy. I’ll buy another set short of making my own longer set.

  • Tusk Shock Spring Compressor YZ250 KX250F KX450F KTM RMZ250 Tusk Shock Spring Compressor

This tool works very well. It will compress the shock spring enough to tear down the shock. I would advise is to be careful that tool does not spin on spring leaving both compressors on the same side. Be sure to compress each side equally to minimize this. Overall, works well. Got the job done.

  • Well made and it works as advertised

I used these to compress the springs on my old motorcycle shocks. The plastic coated jaws protect the springs from being scratched and they fit nicely between the coils. Although you can use a wrench or socket to move the jaws and compress the springs I used an electric impact wrench to minimize any tendency for the compressors to rotate around the coil springs. They worked great!
