Loved my new aka-bar
I have nothing to say except good things about this knife. First, I received very quickly. Faster than was estimated. I had been looking for a different EDC from my Esee, and this was a very good change. The knife arrived pretty sharp though I sharpened it more. The blade was slightly longer than my Izula Esee, which is what I had wanted. It feels sturdy in my hands and it locks into the sheath very well. The TDI clip is strong and holds securely. The leather loops included for horizontal carry are pretty handy too. All in all I was really happy with my purchase. I have trimmed down the sheath a bit and I added nylon cord to the handle. Better than a folder.
I love this little knife. I love it so much I bought two of them. These Kabar bk11 knives are tough and hold an edge very well. I did a paracord wrap on one and added mircarta scales to the other. They look great though I'd like to see the old style deeper tang stamp, because it stands out more. I put one in a day pack, along with a ferro rod and emergency fire starting kit, in a small bag attached to the sheath. The other goes in my bushcraft pack to be used as a general small camp knife, and back up bushcraft knife. I like the sheaths as the ambedexterus retention system is always there, holds the knife in the well, and is easy to use. I can't say enough about these knives. Why didn't I get one of these along time ago? If you're on the edge of the fence, and haven't decided yet, get ... I love this little knife. I love it so much I bought two of them. Got my Ka-Bar BK11 today with my mail! Opened up the box, and I couldn't stop playing with the contents! Great knife, sheath, and paracord. I love Ka-Bar's anyway! I build survival kits on knife sheaths for my faimly and friends; this sheath is bulky and solid, has plenty of lashing points, has a retention locking mehanism, and its high carbon blade is high quality epoxy coated for oxidation resistance. The skeletonized handle has 3 lashing points to fashion a spear, and accepts small hooks, weights, and fishing line under ranger bands, wrapped in gutted paracord for grip makes a damn fine survival kit. Knife to baton saplings for shelter (small yet works fairly well, expect to lose parts of the epoxy during batoning), cordage to lash it up, fishing kit for protein, a chunck of fatwood, a ferro rod on the sheath and the spine for sparks. All hanging around your neck, on your chest or back (with a diy harness), or lashed on a belt; value can not be ... Great outdoors knife for the price
The knife came in razor sharp in the original packaging with all the appropriate accessories. The plastic sheath with the additional paracord are also good quality. I esspecialy like the guard on the sheath witch prevents the knife from falling out by tightly piching the sheath. I have just sharpened my bk-11 and can confirm that the blade steel sharpens easily and holds the edge well. 1095 steel did not fail me even when the knife was dropped right on the tip on concrete and it did not break off, only chipped a bit. As far as rusting goes, I have only noticed a tiny spot of rust on the engraving of the knife, but the blade itself is still pristine despite being soaked in water a few times.
