Jerrys cartoons have been in continuous syndication for nearly 35 years. Introduced in 1980, Van Amerongens cartoon panel The Neighborhood along with Gary Larsons The Far Side helped redefine the newspaper single panel cartoon with short bursts of sophisticated surreal humor. Ballard Street is a rich continuation of Van Amerongens singular humor.
