  • Not so Great

I use this book for my Introduction to GIS class and will use it for a few others. There are a few key problems with this book. First of all, you follow along with the tutorials. However, that's all you do and the book does not explain why you do certain things. The other problem is the book skips steps in performing a task. As a tutorial, this book should lead the user step-by-step and not skip anything. Believe me, when you are trying to follow along and all of a sudden hit a roadblock because a step was left-out, you will get very frustrated. On the next version, I would suggest the publisher test-screen the book with students before publishing.
