The spine has raised bands and decorative gilt floral emblems in the panels. The date of 1899 is in gilt at the foot of the spine. The hinges are sturdy and the leather is supple. SIGNED BINDING. The binding is signed (in type) on the verso of the front flyleaf at the bottom corner, "Bound by Riviere and Son." A very nice copy. This is an individual volume (Volume 13) of "The Writings of Oliver Wendell Holmes." Of the writings, this is Volume 2 of the three volume portion of Holmes' "Poetical Works."”
