Great vendor who replied to my emails regarding the focusing screen. Item was packed secure with bubble wrap and arrived exactly as described. Weather conditions on West Coast caused three day delay in arrival, but all is good.

    Covers too large a range!

If I didn't have other Tamron lenses to compare it to, I might have rated it higher. The overall quality is good, but a constant F2.8 at a lower range of mm's produces much sharper images. I personally don't think for the 28-300mm latitude is an acceptable trade-off, so I would not recommend this lens. Pay the extra money, it's definitely worth it!

  • Nice lens for different projects

This is a very good lens to carry if you have a smiple project and you don't want to carry many lenses. It is exactly why I got this lens. Now there are some good things and some not very good things about this lens. Pro: 1. Versatile and lightweight 2. Wide range between wide angle and tele (mostly if you're doing full frame or film cameras) not so much in APC and small digital. 3. Good camera manufacturer 4. Cheap compared to Nikon lenses (which I love very very much) Con: 1. Aperture (lens opens up at 5.3 or something) which does not make it a very fast lens especially for low light or sports photography (i do lots of car racing photographry). Of course I compare this to my fast f:2.8 lenses from Nikon that cost almost $2000 each 2. Lens is considered soft which means you won't get ...

  • Tamron 28-300mm XR DI is a great walk around lens.

Tamron's DI series lenses are made for the digital SLR. There is a visible difference using this lens over Tamron's early model of the same focal length. I own a good number of lenses but because of the range this one covers it is my lens of choice when I am not sure what I will encounter. I have several good shots of bugs and flowers allowed by how close the lens focuses. The 300mm end is good for birds, people and sports. The 28mm end is a little long for some of the indoor shots I need. This lens is a little slow on the focus once you have gotten used to an AFS lens but if you have the money Tamron's latest version has the internal focus motor. This is the lens I have on my camera a very high percentage of the time.

  • Very impressed!

Wow! Very impressed with the quality and lightweight, compact design. Image is sharp and autofocus is fast. Manual focus is easy and accurate.

  • Excellent value for the money

This lens is a great value for the money. Wide angle to zoom, which I will use to make both still pictures and movies on my T3i. The quality is excellent, the lens is quiet, and all of the pictures I have taken are top notch, and I am glad I purchased this lens. For the money, this is an excellent value.
