Fast shipping and good price. Item as described. One small complaint: the CD was mailed in a thin plastic envelope without no bubble wrap, so it arrived with a cracked case that I had to replace. And when I sent a message to the seller with a photo of the damage, I didn't get a response.

  • Anthemic Rock To Help You Regret and To Accept

"Ring" by The Connells is head and shoulders above the other two albums of this group's output that I have been able to find. "Ring" has several standout cuts (I won't reveal which ones, just to intrigue you) that have made me buy three copies, one for myself and others to give away. I recommend against "Weird Food and Devastation." The latter lacks musically and in album art and in lyrics. By contrast, "Ring" has all the lyrics and album design that seems to bespeak the singers' unconscious minds. As to the album "Still Life," I can't remember anything about it except that I played it only one time. I haven't been able to afford yet to get the albums "New Boy," "Fun and Games," or "Old-School Dropouts," or "One Simple Word." But back to "Ring." The best songs on "Ring" have ...

  • One of their best!

I have the entire collection of The Connells library (living in RAleigh, it's kind of a must have). These guys should have been a lot bigger than they were. That being said - this is one of their best albums (right up their with Boylan Heights and Fun & Games). Songs like "Doin' You", "74-75", "New Boy" all were instant hits here in NC (especially on college radio). Very "poppy" rock music, but it has great vibe to it. Songs are all toe-tappers and songs that really have a great pocket. Highly recommend it. Hard to find (very glad to have located one here to replace one that was stolen several years ago). They still perform around the Southeast - check them out when/if you can. Just wish Peele was still hitting the skins - he actually helped me pick out some cymbals for my drum ...

  • Classic Power Pop

I had this on cassette when it first came out, and my wife and I used to cruise around the San Fernando Valley blasting it. Hearing it again 15 years later, it still sounds really good. Super cool power pop songs with excellent lead and harmony vox and great guitar. A must get for any fans of guitar pop such as the Posies and Big Star.

  • Very much The Connells' best album

They call it jangle pop, but for me this album carries the spirit of older, better times for music as a whole. This is best album of that band from Raleigh /unlike the rest of their albums, I'm afraid, although I haven't listened to the last one/. Very intelligent, at times soft, but overall passionate guitar pop-rock sound that with modern sounds manages to say how touchy old, probably 70's sound can be. Unlike th most of the modern one. If you like this description, I've got to have this CD.

  • Excellent music by unappreciated band.

Really awesome sounding, unappreciated band. They should have been huge, but maybe it's best they weren't. Not a bad song on this CD. Musicianship is top notch as well.
