Beautiful and Emotional on many levels
Beautiful and emotional on many levels, this film takes you to a place few would be able to otherwise understand. As a musician who is also losing his hearing, this story touches many a raw nerve for me. The isolation, the outbursts, embarrassments, the inability of others (even family) to understand your condition, and what you are going through. Yet the triumph of Beethoven's genius shines through. There is a lot of truth to the story line in this movie. It is NOT all a fabrication. Beethoven did pen many letters to his "Immortal Beloved", including one found in his belongings after his death. Exactly who that woman was, we will never know for sure, but this film explores the possibilities. Gary Oldman (as usual) becomes the character he is portraying. Totally believable. The ... A stupid title that was about someone who was probably fictional.
This movie has fabulous music, beautiful cinematography, wonderful costumes, was filmed in gorgeous palaces in the Czech Republic. The story is rubbish and the script is awful. Editing is terrible. The sound was very bad - music very loud, dialogue almost inaudible. Not the fault of the disk, which played with no problem. Waste of good actors.
