Stunning. A great advertisment for planet Earth. What is at risk if we continue to ignore what humans are doing to this planet. The film doesn't preach it silently presents the beauty of what is at risk and what will be lost if the wealthiest nations continue their plunder.

Moving art, perfect for a party
After getting my new blue-ray player and 50" Plasma TV, I bought this movie. The quality of the images is astounding, definitely the best out of all of the blu-ray movies I now have. (Including "Planet Earth" and "Blue Planet") I have found that Baraka is the perfect disc to just have playing during a cocktail party... after a few minutes, a crowd forms around the TV as people talk about the images they see. It's literally art. The makers of this movie did an astounding job, and the score if fantastic as well. If you have a high-end home theater system, you simply must have this movie. A gorgeous presentation of a deeply human film.
I had seen Baraka three to five times on DVD, and I've watched it twice on Blu-Ray so far. To parrot Roger Ebert, this disc has the highest quality image I have ever seen in any format. There's a lot more to it than that, of course—the cinematography on display is absolutely stunning, and the range of human experience that the film covers is astounding: dances from native cultures across the world, religious rituals, some of the planet's most beautiful places. I defy anyone to watch Baraka without feeling closer to humanity. If you have a Blu-Ray player and an ounce of heart, you owe it to yourself to seek out this non-narrative masterpiece.I had seen Baraka three to five times on DVD, and I've watched it twice on Blu-Ray so far. I bought this for someone else who wanted it for the love of scenic films and has a collection of Blu-ray DVD's! The movie is a film without words (literally) but I love the HD scenes shot in different countries! This film depict many countries,nationalities, flora and fauna! I do not recommend BARAKA for the 'squeamish' or for young children-as some footage is quite graphic. Very interesting flick in that you do not have to figure out a plot or solve a mystery. I actually dislike the fact that it wasn't a little longer!I bought this for someone else who wanted it for the love of scenic films and has a collection of Blu-ray DVD's! A visual and emotional experience you won't want to mis
This is a gorgeous Blu-Ray production, done by the guy who had so much to do with Koyannisqatsi, a visionary film of earth and our influence on it. This film has the same haunting, lingering imagery that made that earlier film so compelling. It's dripping in chromatic saturation, wonderful passages of time-lapse photography of stars and clouds wheeling across the sky, and the music is powerful and evocative. And on a 50" plasma tv? Unbeatable!This is a gorgeous Blu-Ray production, done by the guy who had so much to do with Koyannisqatsi, a visionary film of earth and our influence on it.
