About this product

Product Information

The Saboteur is an open-world action adventure, set in Nazi-controlled Paris during Germany's rise to power in World War II. Players take the role of an unlikely hero: An Irish mechanic with nothing left to lose. Sean Devlin has lost all he loved in life because of the heartless Nazi occupation, and he now devotes his keen engineering skills to revenge, by destroying as much of the German army's equipment and infrastructure as he can. Considering his skills with explosives and heavy machinery -- and with his two fists, as well -- this is a significant amount of potential damage. The hero can run, climb, and make use of many different kinds of vehicles he finds. He is free to explore the 1930s City of Lights as the player wishes, and progress at his own pace down the paths he chooses, but contact with British intelligence operatives and members of the local underground resistance movement provides information that leads to more structured operations.

As he works toward his ultimate goal of vengeance against the high-ranking Nazi officer who ruined his life, Sean embarks on missions of sabotage, sniping, and assassination, using his mechanical skills, stealth, and street smarts. Each job presents unique goals and challenges, but in nearly all missions, the key is to remain unnoticed, using the element of surprise to take out an important Nazi officer or unleash massive damage on tanks and heavy artillery, and then slipping back into the shadows to fight again another day. The game represents Sean's subversive successes in a more indirect manner, as well, with its "Will to Fight" system. As the hero deals blow after blow to the occupying German forces, the repressed people of Paris are encouraged toward their own insurgency, and the streets and neighborhoods that Sean has freed from overbearing Nazi presence begin to take on a more colorful, positive appearance in the game, emboldening new allies and opening up more missions.

    Way better than I expected.

The game has a couple glitches, like the EA servers are shut down so that the code that comes with the game does not seem to work. But all in all this game is a hidden gem that should have got much more publicity than it did. I think I recall reading that the original company that wrote the game went under.

    Wanna' race?

If you want a vehicle driving/racing game with very poor vehicular control, this is the game for you. The "sabotage" content is an afterthought. Oh yeah, forgot about the "racy" (no pun intended) content - a few strippers, big deal. I bought the game for the stealth theme and it ain't there in the measure you would expect. This one goes on the trash heap!

  • Saboteur borrows plenty of great elements from other!

On paper, The Saboteur is a winner. The plot is intriguing and the conversation is snappy. And if you tire of following the particulars of "La Resistance" there are always some nicely rendered nude women to ogle. But boil it down to the gameplay and you're left with a good chunk of clumsy third-person shooting with bits of awkward driving. The Saboteur borrows plenty of great elements from other games, but doesn't execute on them as successfully. That's not to say there isn't fun to be had because there's plenty. It just isn't as well constructed as many other similar games on the store shelf. 8.0 Presentation The ideas that drive The Saboteur are great. Paris during WWII is both beautiful and dangerous and the main storyline will rope you in. 7.0 Graphics The mostly black and white ...

  • Overall very good. 4.5 stars.

Fans of assassins creed and grand theft auto will have a blast. Personally i belIve the climbing interface is a little clunky, but still easily usable. The storyline is very good. And Sean's character is a lot of fun to play. If i play this game for a few hours me and my friends will walk around using a irish accent for the rest of the day. Im not the kind of gamer who plays through games as fast as possible. I have a tendancy to play a game for months just to get a good feel for it. It definatly deserves another instalment. Perhaps with developers playing a bit more AC: Rev. And a little less GTA.

  • Kill Nazis, drive race cars. Any questions?

This was a pretty good game and an easy one to pour 20 hours or so into. The world is pretty open and easy to explore, and there's lots to do besides the main missions. One of my favorite aspects is that there is an emphasis on late 1930's auto racing which you get to take part in several times. Good story, good characters, good gameplay. Pick this one up!
