It worked, but it was a little harder than expected. I confirmed my cable was okay as described, with multiple cables. I could not connect Pixelbook Go to itself in any possible configuration.
I had to connect as follows: Pixelbook Go, left USB-C, board side B facing up (i.e. upside-down) - separate linux desktop USB-A. In this configuration the ttyUSB0 finally showed up and everything worked.

Used this cable to disable W/P protection on acer chromebook 516 GE. Now it works perfectly on windows 11 Pro 22H2. Saved a lot of work for newbie like me.
