  • A Fairyland of Complex Magnitude

Similar to Macdonald's work "Phantastes" the reader is swept along into a Fairyland of complex psychological magnitude dressed in gorgeous scenes, dangerous villains and a wanderer who has to sort through everything that comes his way. 'Lilith' seemed to me to have more of a consistent plot than 'Phantastes' however, and might be the better book to start with for anyone new to Macdonald's style. The story revolves around Mr. Vane who is introduced to Fairyland through a mysterious raven librarian and includes encounters with Lilith (Adam's first wife according to legend), giants, little people, leopards, and strange monsters. And of course, as in all Fairyland adventures, things are not always what they seem.

  • Great book but a bit difficult for me to understand

I bought Lilith because I have read and enjoyed several shorter stories by MacDonald. True to form, MacDonald placed many nuggets of wisdom in this book. I only wish that I had a better mind for science-fiction so that I could better understand all that his book has to offer.

  • Outstanding

Its a great read, a deep story that challenges your mind and imagination with a writing style not found in books today. McDonald was C.S. Lewis's biggest influence in writing, and you can see it in the writing in Lilith.
