  • Truly one of America's best writers. His descriptions were forever a complete surprise, and he did them so easily.

    I had not heard of E. B. White. He was prominent and prolific in the 1940's-60's. Normally, I would not have been interested, thinking it could not be relevant. I took a chance and read this book only because Andy Rooney of TV's "60 minutes" fame said just before he died that his biggest regret was that, even though he was successful, he was never able to write like E. B. White. "One Man's Meat" was one of his favorite White's book. White was a Master writer. His use of English prose is a continual joy and surprise. This book is an easy read because each chapter is short, the topics are all different, and his perception is as current for today as I have seen, and our family reads a lot. The title is not a guaranteed impulse grabber. White does not need such theatrics. I recommend it to ...
