Inspiring parable on following your DREAM. Get the DVD!
I first bought the DVD workship series, The Dream Giver, featuring Bruce Wilkinson before I read the book. Loved the DVDs! Very inspiring. More spiritual than religious. This book is a nice companion piece, but I highly recommend the DVD workshop, which is about 6 hours long. I found the DVDs to be much more compelling than the book. If you are looking for a jump start on bringing your dreams into reality and not allowing yourself to get derailed, this is the book for you. The Dream Giver is an easy read, not a long book, user friendly. Bruce Wilkinson takes you through the journey of how to move out of your comfort zone and embrace your dreams, come what may. He is reality based as far as addressing the obstacles everyone encounters on the trail of the Big Dream. ... This is a short & sweet version of a young boy named Ordinary who has a dream to someday make a difference. It tells about his trials and tribulations as he makes the journey out of the land of Ordinary into a new place where the Dream Weaver is calling him. I bought the book because I love the author and fell in love with the analogies that Wilkensen used to talk about things that anyone who has a dream faces in everyday life. I bought it because it was a recommended reading from another of his books, The Prayer of Jabez. Dream Giver is short, easy reading that prepares you for the journey of breaking into the unknown and making your life count for something bigger. We all dream of a life of value, more than just the daily grind. But we are so tied to the familiar. Making our lives count for more, requires us to break beyond the familiar and leave our comfort zone behind. The book identifies the fears within us that become stumbling blocks as well as people who love us who think they are doing us a favor by keeping us in the familiar "safe" rat race. The book was recommended to me and I was thrilled to find it on ebay. I am a retired educator. I was given a copy of this book by a friend. Once I had read it, I immediately added it to my list of positive resources. This book tells a positive, self motivating story to which anyone can relate. I'm a Muslim yet I'm able to give copies of this Christian book to many young people in search of direction.
