    Very Possibly America's Best Satire

Dr. Strangelove is the perfect exhibition for Stanley Kubrick's ability to be a genius without color. His choice of Peter Sellers to play three (originally four but a warning heart attack adds the unsuspected humor of cowboy actor Slim Pickens) is not brave or origninal; it is, at the risk of repetition,GENIUS. Sellers' undersale of Group Captain Mandrake and Pres. Murphy Mumphly (is there anything better than his one-sided ab-lib conversations with the Soviet premier? no.)to the over-the-top Kissingeresque Strangelove ("MEIN FURHER! I CAN WALK) are a treat EVERY TIME I watch this classic. And don't get me started about the surprising comedic timing of George C. Scott! If you have never seen this movie, buy it. If you have seen this movie more times than you can count, buy it. It makes the ...

  • Still Stands As The Top-5 Animated Scooby-Doo Movies

While I already own this second Scooby-Doo animated movie, I bought this one for a friend as a Christmas gift since he told me that he didn't own one early last year. But in any other case, when it comes to this animated film, it was a nice-touch of bringing in Tim Curry since he said in an interview many years ago that he is a big fan of Scooby-Doo. The music from The Hex Girls was also good. I truly recommend buying this movie for the 'entire' family; in time for fall-season.

  • Dr. Strangelove

The 1964 black comedic masterpiece from director Stanley Kubrick centers around the dropping of "THE BOMB". A surprise nuclear airstrike on the USSR is ordered by the crazy General (Sterling Hayden) which leads his aide (Peter Sellers) to frantically attempt to locate the recall code to stop the bombing. With an all-star cast of outstanding performances Peter Sellers, George C. Scott, Slim Pickens, James Earl Jones, Sterling Hayden and Keenan Wynn you can't possibly go wrong. Peter Sellers is fabulous in three different roles... Captain Mandrake (General's Aide), the President of the United States, and the President's advisor, ex-Nazi scientist, Dr. Strangelove. Nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Director (Kubrick), Best Actor (Sellers) ...

  • Scary good

When this movie first came out I thought it was a dark and funny spoof. Watching it now, some fifty years later, it still has funny moments, but I found it to be chilling. Some of the technology may be antiquated, but the possibility that one nutcase can precipitate the apocalypse still seems plausible.

  • Dr. Strangelove

Spoof movie about an Army General who goes off the deep end and declares war on the Soviet Union. He sets his wing of SAC on a collision course with WWIII then commits suicide. This movie sports a spectacular cast of Peter Sellers, George C. Scott, Slim Pickens and Keenan Wynn. Sellers plays three different parts. With the help of gung-ho soldiers, crazy generals, Russian spies, and things like "Doonsday Machines", the utterly ridiculous futility that anyone could possibly "WIN" a nuclear world war is foolish at best. This movie was shot in black & white for effect, and to this day remains the most poignant political statement on film.
