    Happy immigrants

This is the tale of Norwegian immigrants in San Francisco after the turn of the 20th century. It tells of adjustment and adaptation as well as tradition. Reading it—be ye child or adult—is a pleasant few hours. The story was made into at least one full length film and a long lasting weekly TV show. Highly recommended.

  • Charming and Wise.

Mama's Bank Account is a group of short stories. They take place in San Francisco. They are about a family who immigrated from Norway. The children were born in this country. The stories are very well written. Each one tells its own story. The book is the base of a movie of the same name. I love the movie. I sent for the book because i liked the movie so much. Its an old movie but i think it stands up well to the passage of time as do the stories.

  • HEARTWARMING READ..!

This is a really delightful little book about life in the early 1900s, and a family's daily efforts to realize the "American Dream"... Published as fiction, it is based on the author's memories of her childhood and life in San Francisco... Excellent choice for those who want a heart-warming taste of nostalgia..! :-)
