    Treasuring literature from the birthplace as their great grandparents!

    I had never read about "Pippi" since her popularity was just beginning in Sweden while I was a child in the United States. As a grandparent, one of the things I give my grandchildren are books. Before I gift them, I read them myself. I choose the book to enrich the child. When I first read "Pippi Longstockings" I delighted in the character with all her adventures; I knew right away this would delight my grandchildren. I had another motive for purchasing this book; my grandparents were from Sweden. This was an opportunity to introduce them to literature written by an author from the birthplace of their great grandparents.

    The Adventures of Pippi Longstocking book

    I love the book because I grew up with the Pippi Longstocking stories. Now that I've got my own kids, I wanted to share the stories with them. (I was actually watching a tv show that mentioned Pippi Longstocking, and I thought, "Boy, haven't heard that name in awhile!"). These stories are great for kids because they are of a simpler and much more imaginative time period than we have today. With all of the advances in our world--some good, some bad--it's nice to have something like Pipp Longstocking to fall back on!
