    Great book for a budding naturalist.

    I got this book for my 5 year old daughter is an avid birder. She has long had an interest in observing birds, but needed some direction. This book, and a Peterson Field guide are the tools she needed. She cannot fill out the book by herself yet, but she recalls the questions asked for each entry, and it is making her more observent. She will see a bird or birds, count them, look for obvious markings, watch to see what it is doing, and check to see if she can observe a nest. Then she says "Mommy, mommy, we gotta go write it down." Imagine what her "Lifelist" will look like. (This book has a start for a Lifelist.) I suspect this is just the beginning for her, and she loves it.
