Good book
Well so far I've read the introduction chapter (75 pgs) and I've been quite impressed. The descriptions go very in depth and the author is not biased toward some particular operating system, choosing the best examples for teaching. He explains UNIX systems more in depth than Windows but gives explanations for why and also gives authors that you can look up if you want more information. The book is clearly designed to teach for the FUTURE of computers, not just what's hot now or what was hot in the past. CS book
i bought this book for a CS class i am taking. it's a fairly well written book. a little confusing at times and its very lengthy. it covers a huge array of information. the book was international edition tho and the problem set differed from the american version so i had to rebuy the book in american edition.

very helpful book
I have only read one chapter of this book so far, but i really like it. my teacher is also using the book for the class a lot. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who wants to know about operating systems.

Just an unauthorized photocopy
I don't see any similarity between the cover advertised and the cover I received. The book condition said Brand New, but they supplied just a photocopy - all the images are grayed and sometimes its clear about the quality of the copy. I don't understand why it charges $20. It could be done by less than $5. Most noticeably, the cover says 'Circulation of this edition outside the Indian subcontinent is UNAUTHORIZED'.I don't see any similarity between the cover advertised and the cover I received.
