Lovely Book
My daughter had a hard time coping after our cat of 18 years died a few years ago. I bought this book to help explain heaven for kitties better. The simplicity of the text and images helps her comprehend where he is now. Highly recommended book.

Excellent book to explain to children the loss of a beloved cat. I have given this book to adults who tell me it has given them solace, as the story presents a peaceful passing of their special animal companion.....Dog Heaven is equally as powerful for those who have had dogs that have passed.

Cute artwork and nice message but not very comforting
I bought this book when our 12 year old cat passed away. I was hoping it would be a source of comfort for our 5 year old daughter and a reassurance that her kitty was in a better place. Parts of it are cute. It describes "Cat Heaven" as a beautiful place where cats can fly and they are happy and well-fed. There is a small part of the book that ruins the entire thing in my opinion. Towards the end it shows a cat sitting alone on a cloud gazing down at the far-away earth and then on the next page a cat alone in the dark outside a house where the lights are on and people are inside. It talks about "watching the house where she once lived and wandered and the people who loved her inside". These images were somewhat upsetting to my daughter and even to me. The image of this lonely cat sitting ... I bought this book when our 12 year old cat passed away. She was not even a year old yet - killed by a careless motorist; I bought this book for us - to help with the mourning process. The first time I tried to read it to Parfait (Streusel's surviving sister), she wasn't 'having it.' But the next time, a week or two later, she sat with me throughout; Parf was okay . . .
