Product Information

Social commentary and riotous slapstick are combined in this vehicle for one of the original raunchy comedians, "Moms" Mabley. Moms plays the elderly Grace, who is fed up with the black elected officials of Baltimore. Tired of being sold out by her own people she becomes an outspoken activist and community organizer opposing the mayor and other high ranking officials. One of the most amazing things about GRACE is that it is rated G. This is perhaps due to the inability to understand much of Mom's eclectic, raspy speech pattern. The ending begs for a sequel that was never made as Grace intends to continue her crusade into the nation's capital. Populated with many gifted African-American comedians who were rarely afforded film roles.

The doll shipped quickly and was packaged well! The only thing that i wish i knew was that frightfully tall frankie has marks on her face. But i do still love her. My advice to the seller would be to explain flaws in the description such as flaws, and marks on the face. Even though the description said used condition.     A hidden gem!

    Having seen this movie on a pay movie channel, I decided to see if it was available...and it was! This movie is dated...and there are some interesting social aspects that pop up from time to time, but Moms Mabley is delightful as "Amazing" Grace...the woman who would single-handedly change the political wind in Baltimore! The only part of this film that was a little unnerving was the cameo by Butterfly McQueen...she was a little too stereotypical for my tastes, but her laugh will stay with you...as will Moms Mabley's performance. It's not an Oscar-winning movie...but it's fun and enjoyable to watch..and a hidden gem for you to discover.

    Amazing Grace

    This is a movie that I saw many years age, at that time, I was not able to see the entire movie. Sitting and talking with friends about old movies, I throught about this movie. Though it is a comedy, the actors in this movie made me think back to my childhood. I've watched it several time and have also shared it with friends. Thanks for having this movie available. Again thanks for the memories.

    Moms Mabley... we miss you.

    She was born into, grew up, and lived a hard life, so her humor came from actually having to see if not actually experience many of the situations she developed for her comedy routines. This DVD is one of Moms at her best, so if you don't have a copy, I recommend this one.
