    Excellent

Just as described. I loved the games. Great price for the both of them. So happy to be able to play them on original hardware at last.

  • a very worthy sequel

As a pretty big fan of the first "Drakengard," I did my best to approach this sequel with some objectivity. I expected nothing more and nothing less than what its predecessor delivered. I was pleasantly surprised, however, by the vast improvements Square-Enix et. al., made with this game. This game has a much more varied soundtrack, and the music is far more lush and pleasing. They tweaked the way you use the additional characters as well. Instead of a limited "summon" of a character with even further limited attacks, they have allowed you to use all other playable characters whenever you want for as long as you want. This, to me, was a huge step in the right direction. Manah's magic is stupdendous. Urick's attacks are brutally strong, and Nowe is like the "Mario" of the group with his ...

  • better than the first.

As a fan of straight foward hack N' slash, I am pleased by this game in its core gameplay. The problems I encountered in the first entry, slow movement and long reaction time to enemy hits, have been lessened in this entry. While your character still reacts to enemy hits by standing there dazed the period is much shorter so it isn't as frustrating. Also, attacks movement and button input reaction is faster so you may take on swarms of enemies without taking a blow. While this has been fixed, there have also been implemented "training prompt screens" which pop up on screen during the action to tell you how to do something instead of letting you figure out the controls yourself. The action is paused when this happens and there doesn't seem to be a way to turn it off. If there were a sequel ...

  • Improved on the first

I picked this game up because i played the first, and that game kept me entertained for a little while. This one is similar to the first, the story is pretty good, combos are a little harder to pull off in some cases, added magic and special abilities is nice. Having to think about what character is stronger against some enemies and weak against others gets annoying, but adds another dimension of game play, some of the platforming elements are awkward mainly due to a strange jump function, but just needs getting used to. Over All a solid game.

  • Great Game!

First off, I wouldn't really recommend this game to anyone who hated the first one because of the whole battle system. While it has been improved quite a bit from the first game, it is still basically just the hack-and-slash ordeal. However, if you enjoyed the first game for either the brilliant storyline or for the gameplay, you will more than likely enjoy the second even more! While the first game had five endings - five endings which were rather eccentric - the second game only provides three. The storyline isn't nearly as 'odd' as what you would find in the first game, but it has a lot of depth. This is one of the few games where you can actually become attached to the main characters (Nowe, Legna, and Manah) and actually become sad at the twist of fate the plot gives you at the end. ...
