A no-brainer "YES" you want this.

If you don't mind exchanging the work light for the quick release lever, it's a great tool. I'm a retired property manager, and have used the best and worst of carpentry tools in my career. Good speed selection, and comfortable trigger. Plenty of power. Although it's on the heavy end of the spectrum for these tools, the weight does make it run a lot smoother. It is built like a tank, as are most all Makita tools, so I am counting on the reliability the name carries in my experience, and with most of my colleagues. If you already have Makita battery packs, choosing this is a no-brainer.

  • Pleasantly surprised so far

I’ve been waiting and waiting for Makita to redesign their 18v multi tool to be more ergonomic as they have on their 18v grinder. I saw this knock off and thought I’d give it a try. Makita should just copy this one. It has a light and feels much better in my hand. It has plenty of power too. The charger and battery are pretty much useless if you already have a collection of LXT batteries. It would be great if this one will hold up like the Makita I’ve had AND USED HARD for several years. I use all my Makita LXT professionally. The only ones I’ve burned up are a non-brushless drill (I abused it) and a 6-1/2” saw (probably same). The engineers on this semi-clone even put a light on it with a better locking mechanism. Only downside is that universal blades with an open end won’t fit ...

  • Really smooth!

I bought this, and the new DeWalt Multitool and prefer the Makita. The Makita has a different kind of handle, basically a big straight handle about 2" in diameter the whole length while the DeWalt has a pistol grip like their drills that is maybe an inch in diameter. The DeWalt seems much lighter, which is good I guess for some people but it also has one effect from being lighter that is not good, IMO, heavy vibration. The Makita vibration is dampered a lot more and it seems more stable when cutting whereas the DeWalt seems jumpy in comparison. The Makita has the typical switch and speed control where you push a switch on the top and it's on, then you can vary the speed by the little speed wheel. The DeWalt has a trigger like a drill, and you vary the speeed just like you would with a ...

  • A good tool for a good price

Fine product, with the only drawback that is really noisy. It has plenty of power to get every job done and, with 4 amps batteries, it works long enough. I use it at home, not as a heavy duty tool. I've bought Makita mainly because I have other Makita cordless tools, so I already have batteries. All in all quite a useful investment.

  • XMT03Z 18 Volt Makita

This tool rounds out my collection of Makita cordless LXT tools. I have batteries, chargers and plenty of saw blades for this tool which is sold as a "bare" tool. It powers on very nicely and has adjustable speed dial. No LED light as previous model but quick blade change is the new feature. I haven't given it much of a workout yet but the portability is so nice. I also have a Fein Multimaster and accessories but I'm not always right next to a working outlet. This is the appropriate tool for many quick jobs and it will be easy to tote around with my other Makita tools.
