    Der in Bruchsal geborene Hugo Troendle, heute von der Kunstgeschichte weitgehend vergessen, zählte in den zwanziger Jahren zu den Romantikern unter den neu-sachlichen Künstlern Münchens. Seine Ausbildung genoss Troendle an der Akademie in Karlsruhe. Eine Begegnung mit dem Maler-Mönch Verkade veränderte sein Leben. 1907 geriet er in den Münchner Kreis um Jawlensky und Werefkin.Von diesen angeregt wechselte er nach Paris, wo er 1908-1912 unter den ehemaligen Nabis-Künstlern Denis und Sérusier verkehrte. 1919 wieder in München entwickelte er eine klassische, romantisch gefärbte Landschafts- und Figurenmalerei elegischer Farbigkeit,wobei Poussin, die Nazarener, Millet, Marées und Cézanne Paten standen.Von 1926-1938 betrieb Professor Troendle eine private Malschule,publizierte noch heute lesenswerte Aufsätze zu Poussin, Degas, Sérusier und galt nach 1945 als der »Pan von Schwabing«. Die vorliegende Publikation stellt eine erste Monographie dar und ist als Lese- und Katalogbuch zur Ausstellung im Stadtmuseum Penzberg im Frühjahr 2010 konzipiert. Hugo Troendle was a Romantic among the artists of the Neue Sachlichkeit in Munich. Influenced by Verkade, Jawlensky and Werefkin, he moved to Paris, where he joined up with Denis and Sérusier before returning to Munich to paint Classicist, Romantic landscapes and figurative scenes.
