    Old But Reliable Receiver

This is my second Sony ICF 2010 Receiver. The first one died after 30 years of faithful service. Out of the well wrapped box it didn't immediately work but because of past experience with this model I thought to thump the enclosure a couple of times, gently, with my hand. It suddenly came to life and is still working. I would have preferred a receiver that looked less "used" but I saw the photos before I bought it. Nothing was misrepresented. Who knows, maybe I'll get brave and transplant my "new" ICF 2010 into my old ICF 2010's much newer looking shell.

  • Sony ICF2010, One of the finest multi band portables ever.

Some consider the Sony ICF2010 the best portable ever and I agree. The ease of use and the outstanding sync detector are just a few of it's many great features. The main flaw with this radio are poor battery connections that are easy fixes. I have bought many of these radios (non working) on eBay, fixed them and resold them. Still do.

  • The Magic Receiver

One off a kind All Mode General Coverage Portable/Desktop AC/DC Receiver which still out performs most receivers in it's class today. No filters, but it's excellent for quick frequency spotting on SSB signals. The only other Desktop receiver of it's vintage which may outperform it is the AOR-3000A, which often sells for twice the price, for little gain. I know, I have 5 of each! vk2faab.

  • My only complaint is the PLL direct tuning. The tuner will not tolerate quick changes in freq, at least in my radio.

Unless direct-entry is slow & deliberate, it will display erroneous numerals and error msgs. The receiver is excellent and quiet.
