"[I] like this book for the good overall view of the subject. The pictures of the equipment are all clear, concise, and illustrate the many different approaches taken by the manufacturers . . . I also enjoyed this book for the clear writing, good drawings and photos, and the overall treatment of the subject." - IPMS/USA, "[I] like this book for the good overall view of the subject. • A Great Inexpensive Gift for Anyone With An Interest in CW Sharpshooting

This is a good, compact, well illustrated book that can be used as an introduction to studies of Civil War sharpshooting. I thought the author's inclusion of descriptions of other rather common types of firearms as if they were the equal to the more specialized weapons used by the various designated "Sharpshooter" units on both sides in the Civil War, was unnecessary. The photos, diagrams, and illustrations are first rate and are very helpful in illuminating the text. The photos of the specialized weapons taken at different angles are, in some cases, exceptional . Although this book probably does not contain any real revelations for those who have made a detailed study of Civil War Sharpshooters, it is a very good summary of their weapons and tactics. This book is highly recommended ...
