  • The best graphic novel I've read in a while

Marvel 1602, if you don't already know, takes most of the main Marvel characters and places them in Europe in the 17th Century. This may seem a little strange, but it ends up working very well. You have Sir Nicholas Fury, the Queen's head intellegence officer, Dr. Stephen Strange, her court magician, Peter Parquagh, Fury's teenage assistant, Rojhaz (Captain America), an indian that for some reason is blonde (it's explained in the book)and Matthew Murdoch, a blind Irish minstrel. There are also 1602 versions of Dr. Doom and another villain that I won't tell, along with Charles Javier and his "witchbreed" (X-Men). I won't tell you the story because that might ruin it, but you really should buy this graphic novel. Along with the excellent characters and ...

  • Marevl 1602

An interesting read with a compilation of an 8 issues series called – 1602, the comic version of what it would have looked like to have Spiderman (for this reading it was Peter Parker pre “Spidey”), The fantastic four, Thor, Captain America, etc. brought into the Elizabethan age. Imagine Peter Parker serving as the Nick Fury’s apprentice (Fury was the Queen’s chief intelligence officer) to help and spoil any threats to the Queen, or Rojhaz (later known as Captain America) a native American Indian who serves as a bodyguard to the first American born child (Virginia Dare) and so on. The characters from Marvel Comics all play a role in the death of the Queen and how they attempt to save the new born country, America. This creative story, holding onto the histories and underlying character ...

  • great

This book was not only fascinating to read but it was also a great product. I had not realized how much Neil Gaiman I have been reading recently until it suddenly smacked me in the face with MARVEL 1602. He has a singular mind and a way of looking at characters and places that merge the real with the unreal. and the style was one that fit perfectly with the subject matter and time period envisioned. well done.
