About this product

Product Information

Celebrate Earth Day with Dr. Seuss and the Lorax in this classic picture book about sustainability and protecting the environment! I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees. Dr. Seuss's beloved story teaches kids to treat the planet with kindness and stand up and speak up for others. Experience the beauty of the Truffula Trees and the danger of taking our earth for granted in a story that is timely, playful, and hopeful. The book's final pages teach us that just one small seed, or one small child, can make a difference. Printed on recycled paper, this book is the perfect gift for Earth Day and for any child--or child at heart--who is interested in recycling, advocacy, and the environment, or just loves nature and playing outside. Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not.

    Love this timeless classic story!

This is a great story for every child to read as well as adults. I believe most adults could learn a lot from it and teach children at a young age what happens to the environment when nobody cares about it.

  • You shouldn't ruin the environment to make a profit!!

This book is about an environment loving creature called the Lorax. When the greedy Once-ler drives through the forest and finds the Truffula trees with their soft, fluffy tufts he cuts them down for a profit. He makes a Thneed, which you can use for almost anything, and sells them to make a profit. Then he cuts down the trees like a maniac and pollutes the water and the air. The birds, fish and Barbaloots (a bear-like creature) move to try a find a better place to live in. The Once-ler calls all his family members to help him run his Thneed factory. The Lorax tries to get the Once-ler to stop polluting the forest and replant the trees he has cut down. But the Once-ler doesn't and then the Truffula trees are gone along with all the animals. Then, when the Once-ler denies the Lorax's one ...

  • Dr. Seuss Collection

I purchased a collection of Dr. Seuss books for my 4 year old granddaughter because my son (her father, age 36 now) loved them so much at her age. She loves rhyming words, so I knew these would appeal to her. I especially looked for "Horton Hears a Who" and found it included in the one large collection of Dr. Seuss books included in the set. I was disappointed, however, to find while reading that story to my granddaughter, that half of the text on one of the pages had been torn out. I'm assuming the seller was not aware of this. I was forced to improvise on that page, but then I do that a lot anyway in order to make the books age appropriate and hold her interest. I find that even though these books are almost 40 years old, they are still wonderful for children and have stood the test of ...

  • A timeless book....The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss

I hadn't read this book for many years. It is my older brothers favorite childrens book. He was gravely ill and in the hosptial. I wanted a copy to read to him (even though he is pushing 50 years old). The book is near 40 years old. The price was right, the book was in mint condition, and I doubt I could have gotten it anywhere else, so quick, so cheap. Getting this book for my brother made me realize the deep stories and messages in the Dr. Seuss collection and has piqued my interest in finding all of the series. Thanks for the great deal, and the great place to find the deal...all at my fingertips! Janet Dorzey, a proud Ebay'er.

  • A Beautiful Way to Teach Conservation.

A wonderful way to reach children about the pitfalls of shortsighted use of resources. The illustrations are beautiful. The liberal use of blue contrasts with the multi-colored trees that are being wantonly chopped down for profit. But what happens when they are all gone?
