About this product

    Product Information

Cardinal Syn is a 3D fighter that features Versus Player, Tournament, Team Battle, Survival, and Training modes of play, and a total of 18 playable characters. Eight of those fighters are selectable from the start while more will become available by completing the game with different characters. Gameplay involves destroying your foe by any means necessary. Each character has unique button combinations, special maneuvers, throws, etc. The game also features some weapon-based combat with battle-axes, crossbows, double-edged swords, and lethal projectiles.

Players can rotate and maneuver their characters a full 360 degrees around each battle arena. Arenas are interactive environments filled with dangerous fire-pits and spike-lined walls; for added damage, players can push their enemies into these hazards. Special items are hidden throughout each arena as well. By uncovering Blue Vials, players are able to execute their character's magical attacks; Yellow Vials replenish a fighter's health meter and sword icons increase a character's strength and physical attacks. Additionally, bombs are hidden in crates and treasure chests.

As for the game's story, there is the Bloodland that was once ruled by a variety of Clans, each with a distinctive hatred for one another. There was constant bickering over territory and differing beliefs; dead bodies would litter the once beautiful terrain. But one day, the Wanderer appeared and rallied all the Clans together. He brought with him a Book of Knowledge that he divided amongst the groups; with these scrolls, each Clan could successfully coexist without fighting. When the Wanderer disappeared, the Clans resorted back to their own ways. Each wanted possession of the book and battles broke out all over the Bloodland.

One day, Syn appeared out of nowhere, much like the fabled Wanderer. But her reasons were different; she transformed each Clan's scrolls into a deadly weapon and instituted a tournament to determine who would rule the land. The single-player Tournament mode is a romp through the Bloodland where players battle each opponent on that Clan's home turf -- if you win, you get one step closer to retaining all pages of the Book of Knowledge and ruling the land forever. Also, by completing the Tournament secret characters become available for play.

    • Terrible game

This game is terrible and the learning curve of this game is also terrible. The countering is ridiculously stupid and all the CPU does it block and counter. This game is annoyingly the worst fighter. What is the point in the combos when all you do is press circle and try to do high and low moves. Plus the reaction time is extremely slow

    • Forgotten Realms and Untold Ancient Action!

It is said when Chaos Reigned a mysterious wonderer walked the war torn Earth. For its time this truly was an Epic fighting game for Play-station 1. Incredible Intro with amazing 3D graphics and sound. The characters that you have to pick from are reminiscent of some of the other memorable games of the past. Each one has a great strength but even a greater weakness against a match with another character. I never did beat this game but I must say it was fun trying.

    • Clunky Barely Playable had some potential to be a lot better

Well The name seems enticing but in reality what you get is an annoying non intuitive clunky fighting game. Blocking is just plain terrible. However the characters are interesting. But they don't even have a place to watch your intros or endings. Also the story seems to have many elements that really could have been explored.

    • Best medevil fighting game around

Cheap, great condition, and epic nostalgia. Nuff said
