About this product

Product Information

"Double Dragon" lit the arcade scene on fire when it was released in 1987 by Technos Japan. It was no surprise that a year later, the game was ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System. Today, it's a great classic game that recalls both the arcade and NES greats of the period. While the basic gameplay is similar to the arcade game, the NES version features a number of changes. The first of these changes is the game's story. In the Nintendo game, it's now Billy's twin brother Jimmy who captures the beautiful Marian. At the end of the game, players will now need to fight one final new boss, who happens to be Billy's brother. The gameplay of "Double Dragon" was specialized for its NES version. The core of "Double Dragon" involves players moving from left to right while fighting enemies. You'll punch, kick, and throw anyone who dares stand in your way. You can also pick up weapons from your defeated foes. The knife allows you to beat an opponent from a long distance. The bat lets you quickly dispatch most common foes in only one or two swings. This version also features an experience system that unlocks new moves as you progress in the game. Each enemy you defeat adds experience to your counter. When you level up, you'll unlock powerful moves. Some of these moves include the powerful hair pull, which lets you do big damage to a single foe. The cyclone kick allows you to take down enemies on all sides. "Double Dragon" also features a re-emerging enemy, Chin. This fierce warrior first appears as the boss of the second level, then sporadically throughout the rest of the game."Double Dragon" features extended levels and challenging enemies and bosses. These levels feature innovative battles and confrontations in unique environments. "Double Dragon" is an excellent example of a platforming game with moves designed for action and fun, featuring several tricky jumps that you can use to defeat enemies and advance. The two-player mode is a cooperative feature that allows players to take turns to see how far they can get."Double Dragon" for Nintendo has a unique mode you can't find anywhere else. Mode B is a one-on-one fighting game featuring the cast from the single-player campaign. In addition to Billy and Jimmy, you can also play as villains like Abobo and Chin. The objective in this mode is to beat your opponent using your attacks and special moves. Like the single-player story, this fighting game supports up to two combatants. There is no rating from the ESRB on the NES version of "Double Dragon." However, as a classic game with classic graphics, it is suitable for gamers of all ages. "Double Dragon" is a retro beat-em-up game that helped popularize the entire genre.

  • Double Dragon (NES)

MODE A: Great single player beat em up game. This game is suitable for nearly all ages. I say this because it does have its tough parts and the less skilled or patient players will not make it past stage 3. With only 4 stages in the game, its a rather short game. But it is one of them games where you can try and try to master it but always seem to come up short... I hate that... In 2 player, it takes turns by every death. so if one player can run and beat the game... sorry player 2... you dont get to play To all the new player to this game, Im gunna say im sorry for the salagtite in stage 3 and the walls at the start of stage 4. also the second to last guy of the game who has a gun... he sucks too... MODE B: Im not a fan of this mode. The multi player is really not the greats... ...

  • Best Beat em up on Nintendo

Double Dragon is the greatest beat em up of all time for the NES. It has great graphics for 1988 and plenty of move variations. You actually gain hearts through the game that give you new attacks! Early in the game you have limited attacks, punch, kick, headbutt, but later you get uppercuts, spin kicks, and other sweet moves. Double Dragon holds some of my best childhood memories! I still play it weekly to this day, on virtual console. I believe the NES version is the best version of double dragon. and FYI, there are two versions of the NES double dragon, the older one with the original NES seal of quality, and the new version with the new seal of quality. I also believe that the title screens are a little different between the two versions as well.
