About this product
Product Information
Myth typically brings to mind something not true, a false belief or erroneous idea _ or else tales of the spiritual domain. As the first volume in a series of three exploring the role of myth in contemporary organizational practice, Organizational Olympians looks at myths as part and parcel of our everyday organizational lives. Myth is present in the now, even in such an everyday setting as the workplace and in such an essential activity as business management. Many uses of mythology pertain to the individual actors: heroes and heroines. Most notably they tell us about roles people play in organizations (such as loners, leaders, subordinates) but also of how different types of social actors (such as women, and people from Eastern Europe before 1989) play a key role in organizations, of how attitudes and temperaments can be made sense of mythically, and of professional ethos.

Reviews
'Monika Kostera has completed an extensive book project of not only one edited volume but altogether three volumes in her trilogy on organizational myths, epics and sagas...[she] has succeeded very well in this endeavor: the trilogy reflects her genuine insights and extensive experience in this field of research. It was a pleasure to read chapters that addressed the themes from many versatile angles yet created a consistent whole, written by authors from many different nationalities and backgrounds...These books are recommended reading for those already familiar with organizational myths and metaphors, but are also very accessible for those less familiar with the mythical side of organizational life. In fact, one wishes that many mainstream management courses, with prevalent modernistic assumptions of rationality and linearity, inherent in mainstream business studies, would include one of these books in their reading list to broaden students' horizons and generate a deeper understanding of the complexities of organizational life.' - Scandinavian Journal of Management

Fantastic seller to deal with. Kept me informed and were super helpful and friendly. Provided tracking information so I could see where my order was and when to expect delivery. Considering that it had to come from the States, it arrived here in the UK very quickly. Very well packaged and exactly as described, I’m delighted with my dvd. Thank you so very much for your 5* service 😊
