This movie is one of my favorites. I'm so glad I was able to find it. It is exactly as the seller described. It was still wrapped in the cellophane. It came very well packaged. Unfortunately during shipping, the disc came loose inside the case. (Not the sellers fault). Luckily it didn't get scratched. The movie came in the mail quicker than it was supposed to arrive. I'm very happy with my purchase and will order from this seller again in the future.

ALL the Miller Band's Recordings on Bluebird, 1938-42
The Glenn Miller Orchestra in its most successful form was only extant for a little more than four years (1938-1942). But what an impact this organization had on the popular music scene, then and for many years thereafter. This boxed set has everything that Miller recorded for Bluebird (RCA's budget line of records) and RCA during his period of peak popularity. Fortunately, Miller's records sold like proverbial hotcakes, so he made many recording dates...enough to fill 13 CDs. This is a reissue of the LP series originally released from 1975 to 1980. Fortunately, the RCA engineers then did a great job transferring from the original acetate and metal parts (and in a few cases, from 78 pressings)to tape. The remastering for CD delivers excellent, natural sound. My guess ... The Glenn Miller Orchestra in its most successful form was only extant for a little more than four years (1938-1942). But what an impact this organization had on the popular music scene, then and for many years thereafter. My guess is that the tapes probably needed little tweaking, so thankfully the 1991 remastering engineers didn't mess them up with a lot of digital enhancements. With such a comprehensive presentation, you get everything, good and not so good. That means some of the songs are painfully dated, and "corny". You also get an awful lot of Ray Eberle, which is a mixed blessing. The commentary by Mort Goode (lifted entirely from the LP issues) is sometimes illuminating, but is often more irritating than instructive. However, to paraphrase one critic, every other song recorded by Glenn Miller became an anthem of an era, and in this set you get them all. This is a great way to experience in sound the development of the Glenn Miller Orchestra from a fairly run-of-the-mill, often ricky-tick band to a hit-generating powerhouse with an unmistakable sound and unforgettable presence. Highly recommended on all counts.

My father was a big Glenn Miller fan. This collection he loves to listen to. Highly recommended if you can find it. I for one am happy that I did. Lots of great songs spanning his career under one awesome CD collection.
