Very good seller: tight prices, very good packaging, good communication. Book arrived impeccable, in a perfectly fitting protective box. (With other US or UK sellers, it's often just a plastic bag). Recommended!

  • Great Book, more of a technical reference.

This book so far (1/2 way done) is a great well done book. It covers every aspect of ASP.NET well. It basically breaks down all the topics and covers them with enough depth to get you the basics and send you on your way to learning more about each topic. I was expecting the book to start from scratch, teach you one thing and build upon it as you go and in the end end up with a fully functional example ASP.NET website that has most if not all the key features that were discussed from page 1. Lots of books follow this way of teaching. This one however I see as more of a reference guide in the future. So if you are looking for a book that teaches you ASP.NET and has you create a nice web app on the way don't get this. If you would like a good detailed book on each topic of ASP.NET that ...

  • Believe it or not, this 900 page monster is concise

I wish all my tech books were this good. Where applicable, I'm going to buy everything this author has written. You might expect a lot of filler and redudancy in a book this size. I often find books that show every single dialog just to generate more pages. Mr. MacDonald knows his stuff and doesn't waste your time. He also provides invaluable tips -- little tip boxes that say "if you tried this and got an error, it might be because...". You can tell this guy has been there. While this book is written for a beginner, it's written to an intelligent beginner. Some beggining books assume the reader is an idiot and need every step layed out for them -- 1, 2, 3, ... I hate these type of books. They give you the steps but no explainations or foundational information.
