The Lumix G Vario 12-32mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. Lens from Panasonic is a wide-angle to short telephoto focal length zoom lens for Micro Four Thirds format cameras. Its 35mm focal length equivalence is 24-64mm. With a retractable design, the lens is quite compact, especially when the camera is powered down. A simple turn of the zoom ring extends the lens when ready to shoot and retracts it when not shooting.Panasonic's MEGA Optical Image Stabilization provides compensation against camera shake in order to create images with less blur when shooting in low light or anytime the shutter speed is slowed. Three aspherical lens elements and one extra-low dispersion (ED) element minimize aberrations and contribute to high contrast, color-accurate imaging. The lens can focus as close as 7.9 at the wide-angle end and as close as 12 at standard and telephoto lengths.Micro Four Thirds format lensRetractable design capacitates compact form factor; weighs just 2.5 ounces.MEGA Optical Image Stabilization system compensates for camera shake and reduces blur.Three aspherical lens elements and one ED element minimize aberrations and contribute to sharp, high contrast imaging.

    Great little zoom

    After about six weeks I can say that the images I'm getting are very good. I also use the excellent Lumix 20mm f/1.7 prime lens, and this zoom is not disappointing in image quality. The apertures are what they are; no surprises there. This lens replaces my original Olympus 14-42 kit, first generation. The Lumix build quality seems much more durable. That is my main concern after the Olympus lens died just after the warranty expired. The Lumix seems tighter and stronger. No wobbles or shakes. AND it has OIS!

    Sharp (for the price), lightweight but not durable

    I've been using this lens for several years now and last month the Zoom rotating ring gave up. Also before it broke the camera had difficulty recognizing the lens (turning on-off-on the camera solved the problem, but it was still annoying).

    Tiny zoom with amazing image quality and IS.

    Image quality of this tiny zoom lens is amazing. Focusing is quick. The image stabilization is really helpful seeing as it only has modest apertures (3.5-5.6) I think it’s the smallest interchangeable lens with IS. It is not ruggedly built, however. It’s beautifully made, but it’s not rugged. An amazing value for a lens with this image quality and stabilization. Anybody who loves tiny (really tiny!) lenses will love this little gem.

    Lumix 12-32 is ideal for travel.

    Very sharp. You trade big apertures for light weight and it's a good trade for a travel lens. Compared with primes, this is just as sharp as my 20mm f1.7, has better contrast than my 14mm f2.5 and focuses just as fast as my 19mm Sigma. Price is very good. I recommend this lens to all Lumix users who travel or just want a wide street lens with a bit of portrait capability.

    Small, lightweight and sharp

    I sold my first copy when I I eft the 4/3 system a few years ago. I recently purchased a Olympus Pen F and purchased a second copy in order to have as lightweight a kit as possible. Yes, I wish it had a bit more reach and was at least a 2.8 lens, but for its fine optics and at a very reasonable price, it is great kit lens and a keeper this time around.
