NORTHERN LIGHTS is one of four made-for-TV movies adapted from Nora Roberts' romance novels for the Lifetime channel in 2009 (along with TRIBUTE, HIGH NOON, and MIDNIGHT BAYOU). Country singer LeAnn Rimes stars as Meg Galligan, an Alaska bush pilot who finds herself falling for her small town's new chief of police, Nate Burns (Eddie Cibrian), a former Baltimore cop haunted by the death of his partner. The couple's relationship is tested when Meg's long-missing father turns up dead in the Alaskan wilderness, leading Nate on a murder investigation that uncovers some unsavory town secrets. This romantic thriller features Rosanna Arquette in a supporting turn as Meg's mother, Charlene.

    The movie stunk.

    Movie missed the mark, too many sub plots going on, you got the father who was found in the mountains and then you got a sheriff who relocates, has baggage of his own and its revealed one of the citizens was behind the murders and tries to shoot the sheriff and gets him fired. when it comes out who committed the crime he was rehired and admitted he was in love with the pilot.

    Those Feisty Alaska Girls!

    I loved the book, and the movie helps capsulize the best elements. It's a great date night flick (even if you are married) because there is enough mayhem to keep the guys interested. The love story is the key, and it works, even though the movie can't get into Nate's head as much as it did in the book. Meg is a pistol, and we always love a strong woman in film! Beautiful scenery and a glimpse into this amazing part of our country and the people who tend to inhabit it just add to its appeal.
