Great sound, great pedal (for what I'm going for)

I produce post punk, hardcore and PV by myself using this pedal, a guitar and I program drums via FL. So how does it sound? Perfect for what I need. I like how you can set it to classic distortion or in my case I crank everything to eleven and then turn my highs up on my amplifier to get that feedback screech I owe so love. In comparison to some other pedals this one is my favorite for the time being and I see myself producing a few demos and an album with this guy. As for durability, I could drop this thing out a window and I doubt it would damage it. The seller was very open in communication and the package did arrive a couple days early plus there was a tracking number so I could see when it would arrive. Just plugged a 9V in and got to work. I would reccomend unplugging the battery ...

  • Only achieves metal guitar tones! Average tone quality

Sounds a lot like the MT-2. This has lots and lots of gain and distortion if that's what your looking for. Good bottom low end response, and a treble control which gets nasally like the MT-2. This pedal is good if you don't have a distortion channel on your amp suitable for metal. I use this with my Fender Blues Deluxe 40 watt 1x12 and it sounds great! This pedal is great for making a small amp sound more beefy. I also have a Peavey 5150 with a Marshall 4x12, I prefer that amp's distortion when playing metal shows. The pedal does not sound out of that rig.

  • A great pedal for many genres of music!

I bought this product not expecting much. I've previously purchased a DS-1 and was fairly happy with it, but that pedal has virtually no bottom end. Seeing as I play sharp and clean with Danelectros and Strats, I not only needed a bit of bass with my guitar, but a bit of extra gain too. This pedal is exactly what I was looking for. This beauty manages to keep a very focused sound regardless of how much gain you have dialed in, yet maintains a very natural tone and a decent high end. I had previously heard that it sounded very digital, but I managed to get a great deal of tube-style break up along with some cold, near metal tones with a single coil guitar. This pedal is perfect for what I play (alternative and power pop, among many other genres) and I'd recommend this pedal to any ...

  • Good pedal for grindcore.

I like this pedal. It adds a lot of gain and distortion to your sound. Makes you sound pretty heavy. That's pretty much why I got it. Unfortunately, I feel as though it doesn't give enough tone compared to the amount of distortion you can channel. And when you turn up the distortion and gain together you get a lot of unwanted noise. I'd recommend it for grindcore and powerviolence, when you want that chaotic feel to your sound, but not for other types of music.

  • Little known secret for BASS!!!

I deducted one star only because it's not versatile, and the extra gain boost knob means more tedious tweaking, but it's well worth it. With guitar, it's strictly a heavy crunch pedal. With bass, you keep the drive and gain boost very low, mixed to your taste, and it's a clear, solid crunch with a massive bottom. What more could you ask for? Of course, using the wrong amp can make dirt pedals sound fizzy. For Boss pedals with bass, I recommend GK or Hartke over Ampeg.
