    Great Movie!

I bought this movie for my 8 year old daughter and she really enjoys it. I have also watched it with her and think it's a great story.

  • 1943, and the World is at War - WWII

Things can change overnight in war time. But no ice cream?! Fiances, sons, and brothers going into the military. Not enough rations for a birthday party fit for Princess Elizaeth or Princess Margaret Rose? Love and life go on, dancing, lockets, and singing America the Beautiful. Who will be Miss Victory?.. Then come the blackout drills. Dad boards a bus and goes to war. Mother becomes employed to help assemble machinery. Families become black and white photos and letters. Doing one's part may mean eating turnips and babysitters. Sometimes we have to do things whether we like to or not. Casseroles are baked as news comes that some loved ones won't be coming home alive. Then come the refugees. More and more the war takes on human faces, sharing and human consequences. I loved ...

  • Molly's Movie from American Girl

I purchased this movie as a replacement for one I had loaned out and was subsequently lost. I have all the American Girl movies made so far and I felt this was the best movie that AG has made to date. The characters were depicted in such a way as to help us understand what it was really like being alive during World War II; from the mother with her only child serving overseas in the war, to school children trying to understand why life had changed so much. One character was a girl who had to leave her home in England because of the danger from the enemy bombs and her adjustment to living in a strange land. Another depicted a family when the father goes to serve in England and the mom goes to work. As always, the American Girl movies touched our hearts and made history come alive.

  • Great. A good description of the movie.

This movie follows the American Girl book series really well. The movie is wholesome. You can let your daughter watch and not be worried about the content. This is so refreshing in this time and age. This movie appeals to all ages and sexes. My husband, who doesn't care for American Girls, etc, liked them and watched all the movies. He even suggested that we buy our daughters the American Girl movies series.

  • Very Good Movie, Molly an AG story brought to film. Enjoy.

Purchased this movie for a child who has enjoyed reading about other American Girl historical dolls. Movie is very well done and captures the time period well. The books are for ages 8 and up, if you are unfamiliar with the story please note this is base around World War 2 and the lives affected directly and indirectly. I would encourage any adult who purchases this movie to watch it first without the child it is intended for. Then watch it again with the child the movie is intended for together, so you can discuss the conversations the movie will trigger. Overall this is a very good movie, wonderful costumes, acting and story. The subject matter may be challenging emotionally for some 8-10 year old children, it all depends on what the child has previously read or seen in movies.
