    Good value. Decent performance.

    If you are looking to extend the useful life of an older laptop and save a little money, this drive may be for you. At 5400 RPM, 120GB, and 8MB of cache, it won't set any performance records but may be adequate for your purposes. I needed to add storage and memory to an older laptop (Acer 3000) in order to run multiple virtual machines while I migrate from Microsoft to Linux. 120GB provided plenty of room for Xubuntu, VirtualBox, XP, and all required applications. Drive performance is more than adequate and offers good price performance for my computing requirements.

    Used Laptop Hard drive

    I purchased a used laptop computer hard drive on E-Bay. I wanted a new hard drive, but couldn't afford a new one. I won it on bid and saved probably 40.00 from the new price. It's important to see the actual picture of the hard drive to insure it is the right hard drive for your laptop. You should always consultant the specifications for your computer before purchasing a used part. E-Bay has some outstanding values from excellent vendors when it comes to used laptop computer parts. -Robert M.

    Western Scropio 120 gb External Hard Drive

    Although this 120gb hard drive only provides 111gb storage, it is fast, quiet and very reliable. The new plastic case with silicon protectors is a marked improvement over the old metal cases at half the weight. The 10 inch supplied USB cord is a little to short for convenience. Overall, I rate this unit as BEST BANG FOR THE BUCKS and recommend it for all levels of use.

    Western Digital Scorpio WD1200BEVE

    I have found that for older laptops utilizing IDE hard drives, the Western Digital Scorpio 120 is the best drive to use. It is the highest capacity drive that works reliably in most Laptops. The drive capacity is just slightly under the 137gb limit which is imposed by older bios systems, and spinning at 5400rpm the drive will not draw too much power. With the 8mb buffer, file transfers are fast.

    Great product. It was a good decision and purchase.

    I needed to "beef up" my old Dell Inspiron as it was becoming rather crowded. After searching through all the offerings, I decided that this would 'do the job'. It installed easily, and the old operating system transferred seamlessly from the original 40Gb drive. It could be my imagination, but it seems that the laptop is now performing a tad quicker. (definitely quieter.)
